Bathroom Demo

"If I want to be alone, some place I can write, I can read, I can pray, I can cry, I can do whatever I want - I go to the bathroom."- Anonymous
NOT in HERE!!!!!

With the greatest honors, let me introduce you to the two most horrible bathrooms in the world! These bathrooms were covered in CARPET!  Yes carpet. Underneath this carpet were beautiful tiled 1922 hexagon tile.
So this is what it looks like now.....
No more plaster. Don't worry, I saved all of the original tile and we are going to make a floor to ceiling tile wall where the claw foot tub goes

This is the new bathroom vanity. Sink and all. I can't show you all the pieces. Surprise is the best!

Wall between the two bathrooms are gone! Yay for BIG!

With ordering everything online and through Etsy, eBay, Amazon and such, you just never know what you'll open up!

Finally found the tub! I can't wait to show you what this beauty will look like when I'm finished with it!  We found this literally when it was delivered to "MeMa Had One" This super cool antique store off of Washington Rd. You have got to go!

More Kitchen....

These are some more pictures from the kitchen renovation!

I just love him! The puppies just wanted to see what he was doing.
This ceiling is so beautiful! I spent 4 days painting it by hand.........but Joseph is the creator of this beautiful piece!  The light I got it from a vendor on Etsy from Maine! Just love it!

I know it looks so white, but the blue we chose gives it a big pop of color on the three walls we have left!

These cabinets are from the 1970's. We decided to keep them....all 40 of them! lol They turned out better than we expected.

 I just love him!

My sweet daddy and Joseph putting in our butcher block counter tops! They work so well together!

 LOVE!

My sweet daddy making sure our microwave works!

Joseph and daddy talking about the oven....MEN!

First Leafy greens of the Kitchen!

House Warming Party March 1, 2014

It all starts with an invitation, that leads to a party, that makes wonderful memories!

My sweet sister-in-law Anne and niece Sarah signing in.
We let people sign all over the walls. My dear friend Kelly captured all of the wonderful moments.

We are so in love with our kitchen! It turned out better than our expectations.

The floors were covered up by two layers of lenolium and tar. They make our kitchen! The three weeks that I spent on these were well worth it!

We have decided to keep the 1922 silk wallpaper. I just can't find it in me to take it down.

This explains it all!

"If you feed them, they will come."

Our sweet Mrs. Reese made us a beautiful wreath to hang on our front door.
2224 Kings Way is a happy home. After 15 years of being vacant, our party not only showed off the wonderful features of this home, but seemed to have brought it back to life. We are so thankful for our sweet Kings Way home!
We put all of our paint samples on the walls and let people vote on the ones they liked the most.  We chose the audience favorite and the living room and dining room look fabulous! Thanks guys!

This was a great way to get people started with the signing of the walls. When we told people to sign in, they kind of thought we were joking!

My sweet Daddy brought over his popcorn machine. Huge hit!

John Ryan is so talented! He had a blast painting on the walls. It was very hard for us to cover this all up.

 Joseph!

Love!

This ceiling has been a dream of ours! Love!

Kitchen So far……...

First thing I wanted to do was get this beautiful wallpaper down! If you ever have to do this, please use a steamer. It can be messy, but totally worth it.

It took me 4 days to get all of this down. The process is slow, but works really well.

This sink has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I love it! Its a cast iron, 1954 stamped, washboard sink. I found a guy on Etsy who finds these beautiful sinks, along with other items, and brings them back to life. He's  located in Louisiana if any of you are interested.  I can't wait to wash leafy greens, eggs and vegetables in it. Joseph said that we can one day give our children a bath in it its so deep!

While removing cabinets and such, we found this 1950's record about the one and only Billy Graham.

This amazing ceiling was built by my sweet husband. I asked him if I could have one like this and he went above and beyond! It looks even better in person.

This is just an example of how old our house is. Years of different paint colors hidden on the walls.
Since our house is almost 100 years old, Joseph is having to replace all the electrical work. Oh well, modern day touches are somewhat of a safety issue, rather than a want.

There will be more to come as we finish the kitchen. We're hoping to have it completed in two weeks. We have all the pieces to the puzzle. Just have to put them all together.

Kitchen Renovation

This will be my most favorite project for the whole house I think. This kitchen, to me, is the most important room in our home. Between all of our decisions, frustrations, and knowledge with this kitchen…..we have decided to keep the original layout, 1960's cabinets, and beautiful oak floors. So let the process begin. My sweet husband Joseph has done so much already, it's moving super fast.

Two layers of linoleum floor. But guess what us under that……...

Almost there…….
YES!!!! Hardwood floors are there! I was so excited to find these!
These beautiful floors were so damaged. Years of tar, glue, and floors sitting on top of them. I worked very hard to save them. Finished product to come.
This is were we will stop with the floors….I have to keep you guessing for when the kitchen will be completed.
My Sweet Mommy always helping me! This is our pantry. It was the original service entrance for maids and handymen.
She's always making sure we are well taken care of! Pizza!
This is what the kitchen looks like now. How do you like the Big Green Monster?

Yeah I think we will give this away. Anyone know someone who would like this?

Beautiful French Doors. I love these!

How do you like this wallpaper!

Joseph fixing our plumbing. The water was BROWN! Ugh! Look below to see how dirty and backed up these pipes were.

This is our beautiful kitchen! Can we saw 70's flower power?

Joseph is about to get rid of this wall above the cabinets.

Look at how open the kitchen looks now without the wall!

Preparing the ceiling for…..well thats a surprise!
